Substitutes

Use this process if you hold a Washington State Teaching Certificate or a Washington State Lifetime Substitute Certificate, or if you are wanting to be an Emergency Substitute.


APPLICATION PROCESS:

  1. To apply go to Recruit & Hire, apply for the Substitute Teaching Position.
  2. Once your application is received and verified by HR, David Andra, Assistant Superintendent, will contact you to set up an interview.
  3. If you are selected to work in Royal School District, you will receive an email from Marissa Reyes, HR Specialist, in which she will outline the process to create an account with OSPI and complete the certificate application process.
  4. Once your certificate has been issued, you will need to notify Marissa Reyes and set up an appointment to complete new hire paperwork. Please bring with you identification to complete the I9 process. Use the acceptable list of documents to know what to bring with you. Please note that you must either choose one item from list A or one item from lists B AND C. Make sure to also bring a copy of your Certificate as well.
  5. Meet with Arendra Deras at the District Office to set up a login for the Safe Schools training. You will have two weeks to complete the online Safe Schools training. You will be paid the hourly sub rate to complete this training up to 4 hours. You will need to submit your time on a substitute time card which will be provided to you.
  6. Meet with Mayra Martinez at Royal Middle School to set up a Red Rover account. (This is our substitute calling software).
