Technology Enhanced Learning

Strategically using technology to enhance teaching and learning

As technology continues to evolve and influence how we learn, it is imperative for the Royal School District to embrace the challenges before us and utilize technology in a way that will enhance both teaching and learning in our school district. This, in turn, will help us to prepare our students for success in their future careers.

We are excited to implement our TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) Initiative as a pilot program at Royal Middle School as a means to address these challenges. No longer can we depend on a traditional means for providing learning opportunities for our students. We will use technology as a means to address personalized learning for each student.

On July 22, 2019, the School Board approved four goals for the coming school year. Included in these goals is goal number III – Develop and Implement Technology Enhanced Learning Program. The development and implementation of TEL will include the following components:

  1. 1:1 Technology provided to all students (starting at the middle school for the 2019-2020 school-year)
  2. Professional Development for Staff in the area of technology enhanced curriculum
  3. Digital Citizenship education for students
  4. Staff support through Educational Technology Coach
  5. Technology Advisory Board composed of staff, a board member and parents.

In addressing item number four from above, the district is pleased to announce the hiring of Katy McKee as our district technology coach. Katy will provide more information about the TEL program when she joins us for the upcoming school year. Please look for continued updates on TEL in our district communications.
