  • Masks: All students, staff, volunteers, and visitors are required to wear masks while indoors, as well as on school buses, regardless of vaccination status. Masks are not required while outdoors. Please refer to the “K-12 COVID-19 Requirements for Summer 2021 and the 2021-2022 School Year” from the Department of Health and OSPI.
  • Physical distancing: Student desks will be arranged 3 feet apart in classrooms to the extent feasible.
  • Screening: Staff will continue to monitor for symptoms throughout the day.
  • No cohorts
  • Cleaning: Custodial staff will continue cleaning and sanitizing high traffic areas throughout the school day, in addition to cleaning and disinfecting each night after students leave.
  • Isolation: One or more designated isolation spaces will be identified in each building and used as needed.
  • Testing: RSD will have the ability to administer rapid tests. While not mandatory, tests could be available for student use only with approval and close coordination with parents.
  • Vaccination: RSD will continue to work with Grant County Health District to provide opportunities for our community to have easy access to vaccines. GCHD is hosting a vaccine clinic at Royal Intermediate School on Saturday, August 28th from 4:00-6:30 PM. Backpacks and gift cards will be given to those who participate.
  • Close Contact: Close contact is generally defined as being within six feet of a person with COVID-19 for at least 15 cumulative minutes over a 24-hour period while the person was infectious. There are some exclusions to this definition, including cases in a classroom in which students were at least 3 feet apart from an infected student when a) both students were wearing masks and b) other prevention strategies were in place. We will work with close contacts on an individual basis to determine if a quarantine in necessary and when the soonest return date will be.

School Supplies:

Supply lists for students in kindergarten to 8th grade can be found on each school’s individual website under the Students & Families tab. Students who brought home school-issued Chromebooks over the summer will need to bring their Chromebook to school on the first day.
