We want to provide our Royal students and families with information about our process for communicating about COVID-19 in Royal School District during the 2021-22 year. Due to the many changes to expectations for schools that have taken place since last school year, we want to assure that you have current information on what you can expect. Royal School District will continue to work collaboratively with our county and state health departments to prioritize student and staff safety.

If a Royal student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, our district will share the information about the diagnosis with the Grant County Health District (GCHD). Medical information will only be shared between GCHD and designated district personnel to protect the individual’s privacy. Royal School District will not share the names of individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Upon confirmation that a student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, trained RSD staff will immediately conduct required contact tracing. If it is determined that a student had close contact^ with a person who tested positive, they will be called directly by the school secretary with instructions about monitoring symptoms, possible quarantining, and testing. Additionally, the school will send the student(s)’ parent/guardian a printed copy of the “Student Return to School Letter” with instructions and return date indicated. If you do not receive a phone call from your student’s school secretary, then your child does not meet the close contact criteria. No further action is needed. Your child may continue with in-person instruction.

Our district will continue to track and report positive cases throughout the school district. Please refer to our COVID-19 Dashboard to view the number of positive staff and student cases by building and reported date.

Please visit our COVID Webpage for more details on quarantine and the updated close contact definition.
